Shopping for a newborn which is on the way should be fun. To be honest, it is stressful. Between the safety regulations and the cost, you feel completely inadequate to make any decision. Luckily we have three more months.

It has been quite a transition moving from Durango, CO to Washington, DC. Yes, I know that pretty much everyone else moves in the opposite direction. I also am aware that Old Town, Alexandria is technically no longer part of DC. But DC moves a lot faster and is more career centered. I do wonder where all these people are going so fast and what are they going to do once they get there.

It's Stanley cup playoff time again. Time to grow your beard and drink tall beers. I am a huge Buffalo Sabres fan. Just ask my neighbors. One of the few things you can look forward to growing up in Buffalo are summers on the Canadian shore of Lake Erie, NFL football and NHL hockey. I am very proud to support such a great team. Come on Sabres bring home that cup!!!

Today was a good day. Today was the first day in almost nine weeks I got back on my bike. I only rode for five minutes, in the house, on the trainer, without my shoes but I rode. It is hard to get on and not peddle hard. But at least now I can get on my bike. I missed riding more than I thought. I am not a good rider. Nor would most people consider me a rider because I only ride on my trainer.

Today I was reminded of a time when my going to my grandma's house was the best. I spent lots of time at my grandma's house when I was growing up. My grandma was not your typical knitting and baking grandma. She lived in an apartment and worked -- a lot. In fact she worked until she was 80 driving a half hour to work each way.

I remember once, during my master's, grandma around 78 came with my mother to visit me. We met in Saint Louis and had a wonderful weekend. We stayed at the Adam's Mark. We shopped at the Plaza Frontenac. We ate at the hill.
