Today was a good day. Today was the first day in almost nine weeks I got back on my bike. I only rode for five minutes, in the house, on the trainer, without my shoes but I rode. It is hard to get on and not peddle hard. But at least now I can get on my bike. I missed riding more than I thought. I am not a good rider. Nor would most people consider me a rider because I only ride on my trainer.
My husband bought me the bike. He rides. He is a good rider. He has ridden most of his life. He loves riding. He got me the bike to ride with him. To give us something to do together. To connect. It is one of my favorite gifts. He got it for me right before our wedding. I was hoping I would hop on and ride. Didn't happen. The first time we rode was a mess -- so much so that I didn't ride the bike for a year. The next time we rode wasn't much better. So he set up the trainer and I began riding inside on the trainer. I was hoping to get good enough to try and ride on the street again when I was pushed off the ladder by the spider and destroyed my knee. The unhappy triad kept me off my bike for nine weeks. But now I'm back in the saddle again.
