I must say that I am very pleased with the outcome of yesterday's election. As a woman and a professional I am profoundly happy to see that Nancy Pelosi will be the new speaker of the house. I am also very happy to see a strong voter turn out.
In 2000 I was lucky enough to be a Fellow working at the Department of Commerce on 14th and Constitution. It was in many ways one of the best year's of my life. I was able to view the inner workings of our government. While I never met the President, I did meet a lot of wonderful people. People who believed in the democratic process and the general welfare of our country.
Call me naive but I believe that democracy does work. That one person, one vote can make a difference. It did yesterday and it will for all those young girls and women who look at Nancy Pelosi and say "I can do that." Why yes. Yes you can.
This one goes out to my friend Kelly and my fondest memory of her riding her brand new kick scooter on the top floor of the commerce building. Yes, yes you can!!
Hey Sammy! You are so cool-
Hey Sammy! You are so cool- you have a blog! This is my first time responding to a blog! I miss those days in the DOC. Wish I could take another spin around those halls. Also miss getting those big cookies from the food court on our way to the metro, shopping at Filene's, and drinking beer at that cigar bar (Shelly's?)
Miss you!! Keep blogging. Love me
