I am now shifting from the world of -ugh- late, 30-something, professionals to mommy. Due to a miraculous constellation of events, I have decided to 'opt out' or as author Pamela Stone of Opting Out? Why Women Really Quit Careers and Head Home prefers "silent strike". At least for a little while.
To be honest, after reading the myriad of opinions on the subject of 'working' versus 'stay-at-home' moms, I am both scared and disheartened. I find Stone's book very helpful in sorting out the issues of 'choice'.
Another article that has brought some comfort to me about this decision is "Dr. Mom" from Babble.com.
The ironic part, is that I am having a little girl. As such, the difficulty becomes how do I present the options of being a women without judgement, when I judge myself.
